COsenza – A group of seven young scouts from Naples experienced a worrisome time in Pollino National Park after losing their bearings yesterday during a hike in Piano Novacco, in the municipality of Saracena.

The rescue operation, conducted by the Cosenza Provincial Fire Brigade, concluded with the safe recovery of the boys, fortunately in good condition.

The alarm was raised when the group contacted the rescue services after getting lost on the mountain paths. The Operations Room of the Fire fighters He immediately activated the emergency protocol, proceeding with the geolocation of the cell phones in the scouts' possession, thus precisely identifying the intervention area.

A team from the Castrovillari Fire Brigade Detachment was dispatched to the scene, but due to the complexity of the terrain and the inaccessibility of the area by land, the use of the Drago VF68 helicopter from the Lamezia Terme Flight Department was necessary.

The recovery operations concluded around 16:00 PM, with the aid of a winch, given that the helicopter was unable to land in the inaccessible area.

The seven young people were airlifted to a safe area in the valley. None of them were injured. The operation was carried out in full synergy between ground teams and air support, confirming the operational efficiency and timely response of the National Fire Brigade in mountain emergencies.
