Naples: Blitz against illegal street vendors on Via Toledo and the Lungomare

Share

NNaples – A massive operation to restore urban law and order was conducted in recent days by the Guardia di Finanza in the heart of Naples, particularly in the areas most frequented by tourists such as Lungomare Caracciolo and the central Via Toledo.

The intervention by the military from the Naples Provincial Command aimed to combat illegal trading, counterfeiting, and other forms of illegality that crowd these areas, especially in the evening hours, with an invasion of illegal street vendors.

Thousands of items seized, from toys to counterfeit jerseys.

The "Baschi Verdi" (Green Berets) of the Pronto Impiego Group were the protagonists of this operation, which led to the seizure of a significant quantity of merchandise. In total, over 11.000 items were seized, including costume jewelry and products with counterfeit and/or unsafe brands.

Among these, thousands of toys that do not comply with safety regulations stand out, posing a potential danger to younger consumers.

Added to this are 4.000 items bearing unauthorized marks and effigies of the "SSC Napoli“, a clear sign of the thriving parallel market linked to non-original sports merchandise.

Eight complaints and two reports

The inspections were not limited to the seizure of goods. The Guardia di Finanza (Italian Finance Police) reported eight individuals to the Judicial Authorities for counterfeiting and receiving stolen goods. Furthermore, two individuals were reported for carrying out commercial sales activities without the required authorization.

The Guardia di Finanza's operation underscores its ongoing commitment to protecting consumers and businesses that comply with the rules, combating the phenomenon of illegal trading and counterfeiting, which damages the legitimate economy and compromises the safety of products offered on the market.

Checks will continue to ensure greater legality in the city's tourist and commercial areas.

The operation by the Guardia di Finanza follows the one carried out by the Carabinieri in Spanish Neighborhoods during which a cache of fake Napoli and other football team shirts was discovered and the person responsible was reported.
