Pupi Avati and Giancarlo Siani's memory at "Cinema Around Vesuvius"

SSan Giorgio a Cremano – Summer in the Vesuvius area lights up with the arrival of “Cinema around Vesuvius” (CIAV25), the Arci Movie festival that will liven up the evocative park of Villa Bruno in San Giorgio a Cremano until August 6th. An unmissable event for lovers of the Seventh Art, which this year boasts a calendar full of great guests and quality screenings.

The evenings always start at 21pm, with tickets costing 15 euros (reduced to 5 euros for Arci members).

The festival's big names: from Pupi Avati to the cast of "Nottefonda"

The Arena di Villa Bruno is preparing to welcome a master of Italian cinema: Pupi Avati. On Tuesday, July 22, the famous director and screenwriter will be at San Giorgio a Cremano to present his latest work, the “gothic” film “The American Garden”.

The film tells the story of a troubled young man with literary aspirations who falls in love with an American army nurse in post-liberation Bologna, only to find himself separated by a “nefarious garden” in the American Midwest.

Avati, born in 1938 and the author of over fifty films, television programs, and commercials, also wrote the screenplay for works such as Pierpaolo Pasolini's "Salò" and launched numerous young authors. The prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, will also be speaking at the event.

On Tuesday, July 15, the festival will host the cast of "Nottefonda": director Giuseppe Miale Di Mauro and the Neapolitan lead actors Francesco Di Leva and Mario Di Leva will be present. The film tells the story of Ciro, a man lost after the tragic loss of his wife, who was hit and killed by a car. His obsessive search has led him to lose himself, his sense of time, and his ability to provide a normal life for his thirteen-year-old son.

A tribute to Giancarlo Siani and a focus on Clint Eastwood

Wednesday, July 16th will be the turn of a moment of profound reflection and remembrance with the screening of "Fortapàsc" by Marco Risi, the film that retraces the story of Neapolitan journalist Giancarlo Siani, murdered by the Camorra in 1985.

Siani's brother Paolo and nephew Gianmario will be present at the Arena, along with Roberto Napoletano, editor of "Il Mattino," the newspaper for which Siani exposed criminal activity in the Vesuvius area. Also speaking will be Giorgio Zinno, mayor of San Giorgio a Cremano, and Federico Cafiero De Raho, former national anti-mafia and anti-terrorism prosecutor and now a member of Parliament.

On Thursday, July 17, the CIAV25 will pay tribute to an icon of world cinema: Clint Eastwood. For the screening of "Juror Number 2," the Arena will host journalists and film critics Mariuccia Ciotta and Roberto Silvestri.

The two will present their book "Clint Eastwood: The Myth of America in Eastwood's Work," an in-depth analysis of the director and an "imaginary cinematic cartography" inspired by his famous Mission Ranch.

The full "Cinema around Vesuvius" program is available on Arci Movie's Facebook and Instagram channels and on the website www.arcimovie.it. The Villa Bruno box office, located at Via Cavalli di Bronzo 22 in San Giorgio a Cremano, will open every evening at 20:XNUMX PM.
