sSalerno– Another night of youth violence in the heart of Salerno's nightlife. It happened between Saturday and Sunday in Piazza Sant'Agostino, in the historic center, where a fight between two groups of youths degenerated into a full-blown urban guerrilla warfare scene, with bottles and chairs thrown and shouts shattering the quiet of the night.

When the flying squads of the Police State police arrived on the scene, but the brawlers were nowhere to be found: they had quickly disappeared into the alleys of the old town. Officers immediately began an investigation to identify the perpetrators, aided by analysis of footage captured by video surveillance systems in the area.

The incident is just the latest in a long series that in recent months has highlighted a worrying phenomenon: the escalation of violence among young people in nightlife areas. Sudden brawls, assaults, the use of blunt objects, and often, as in this case, mass stampedes upon the arrival of law enforcement, are becoming a sad regular occurrence on weekends.

Local authorities, repeatedly urged by exasperated residents and business owners, are considering new measures to increase enforcement and prevent similar situations. But the issue remains cultural and social: "Repression isn't enough; we need a profound intervention to address the vulnerabilities of our young people," say sources close to law enforcement.

Meanwhile, police continue to comb through surveillance footage and interview witnesses to identify those involved in the brawl. Their goal is to shed light on the incident and restore a modicum of safety to an area of the city increasingly plagued by nighttime tensions.
