MAcabra discovered in San Marzano sul Sarno: investigations underway, drowning not ruled out
A lifeless body was found yesterday evening in San Marzano sul Sarno, in the province of Salerno.
The dramatic discovery was made by some frequenters of the urban park, who noticed the corpse float in a small lake inside the green area.
According to initial information, the man was a 47-year-old foreign national with no fixed abode. Municipal police officers, firefighters—who recovered the body—and the Carabinieri, who were tasked with carrying out the investigation, coordinated by the Nocera Inferiore Public Prosecutor's Office, responded to the scene.
Investigators are reconstructing the victim's final hours and have not ruled out drowning. There are currently no obvious signs of violence, but only an autopsy will be able to determine the exact cause of death.
The news has made a strong impression on the residents of San Marzano sul Sarno, where the urban park is usually a meeting place for families and children.
