Strong earthquake
Naples – A strong earthquake shook the Campania capital and its province this evening, Friday, July 31st. The earthquake occurred precisely at 19:46 PM and was clearly felt by thousands of residents.
According to initial provisional estimates released by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the seismic event had a magnitude between 3.7 and 4.2.
The tremor was clearly felt not only in the municipalities of the Phlegraean Fields area, but also in many neighborhoods of Naples, both in the hilly areas and in the city center. The quake immediately raised alarm among residents: within minutes, social media platforms were filled with testimonies and reports from residents who had come out into the streets or were alarmed by the vibrations felt in their homes.
The Civil Protection Department and local authorities are currently carrying out initial checks to determine any damage to people or property.
