The Anacapri City Council
Anacapri – It was supposed to be a moment of clarification, but it has turned into a new political battleground. This is according to the Anacapri Trasparente group, which, in a lengthy statement shared on social media, reconstructed the events of the public debate over the State-owned Areas Use Plan (PAD).
According to the group, the meeting highlighted "contradictions and changes in approach" by the municipal administration, which came only after weeks of controversy and complaints from citizens.
Anacapri Trasparente claims its actions, emphasizing that it simply analyzed official documents published on the public noticeboard and raised questions that were then shared by the citizens.
Criticism has also been leveled at the mayor, accused of having spoken of "false information" and of attacking citizens rather than clarifying the content of the documents.
At the heart of the dispute is the alleged discrepancy between the documents initially published and the explanations that subsequently arrived.
During the meeting, the group highlights, a further attachment was also presented with a different representation of the free equipped beach.
Two questions were raised:
because the clarifications arrived only after weeks;
which version of the project should be considered valid.
According to the opposition, no convincing answers have been received on these points.
The central issue remains the destination of a currently free portion of the beach. According to Anacapri Trasparente, the project would transform it into a public beach with facilities, a decision that has been contested from the outset.
"The free beach must remain as such," is the position expressed, distinguishing between essential services guaranteed by the Municipality (cleaning, security, lifeguards) and management with sunbeds and umbrellas, considered a political decision that requires public discussion.
Technicians and citizens also spoke at the meeting, contributing to the debate.
Professor Lucarelli urged caution, warning against the risk that free, equipped beaches could effectively become concessions.
Journalist Armiero raised the issue of the concentration of management in the hands of a single entity.
Engineer Gargiulo highlighted practical issues related to the coexistence of swimmers and structures in small spaces.
Citizen Ermanno Balsamo posed a key question: if there is a shared problem, why not modify the PAD?
It is precisely on this point that the political group focuses its request: to reduce the size of the free equipped beach and increase the truly free area.
According to Anacapri Trasparente, the public debate was the result of pressure exerted by citizens and the opposition, who forced the administration to provide clarifications and engage in an open discussion.
The group claims a political achievement, arguing that it has brought to public attention an issue that was at risk of going unnoticed.
"Citizen participation has highlighted critical issues," the statement reads, with a commitment to continue monitoring and information efforts.
The main question remains open: a revision of the PAD to guarantee a greater extension of free beach.
