Jealousy rampage in Marano: 16-year-old stabs two peers in a nightlife scene; 16-year-old arrested

Marano – A blind act of violence, unleashed by trivial motives, perhaps an excessive amount of praise or a romantic rivalry that ended in bloodshed. Jealousy is behind the attempted murder of two young men in Marano di Napoli, for which the Carabinieri of the local station arrested a sixteen-year-old.

By order of the Naples Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, the minor was placed under precautionary custody and charged with attempted aggravated multiple homicide.

Blood in the nightlife

The incident occurred in an area frequented by many local youths. According to investigators' reconstruction, the suspect attacked the two peers, repeatedly stabbing them in vital areas with a knife.

A fury that narrowly avoided turning into tragedy: the worst was averted only thanks to the timely intervention of several passersby, who stopped the violence, and the immediate transport of the victims to the hospitals in Pozzuoli and Giugliano in Campania, where doctors managed to save their lives.

Investigations and digital traces

The alarm was raised immediately after the attack. The Carabinieri quickly arrived on the scene, securing the scene and collecting the first, crucial testimonies from the young people present. Subsequently, under the coordination of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, the investigation was conducted by the Guardia di Finanza's Judicial Police Section. Through a complex analysis of computer data, chats, and technical evidence, investigators were able to narrow down the case around the sixteen-year-old, identified as the alleged perpetrator of the assault.

A “disproportionate” motive

What emerges from the investigators' work is a picture of disconcerting fragility and violence. The motive for the crime has been traced back to jealousy, defined by the magistrates themselves as "abject and futile motives." The investigation documents highlight a total and worrying disproportion between the trigger and the seriousness of the sixteen-year-old's conduct.

As required by constitutional guarantees, it should be remembered that the executed measure is a precautionary measure issued during the preliminary investigation phase. The young person receiving the measure remains under investigation and presumed innocent until a final conviction is issued.
