Naples, blank shots fired in the Villa district

Tensions are rising again in San Giovanni a Teduccio, where three shootings were reported in the space of about half an hour over the past weekend. The incidents reportedly occurred in the heart of the Villa neighborhood, an area historically marked by clashes between criminal groups.

There were no injuries or damage to vehicles, homes, or businesses. Furthermore, during the investigation, law enforcement officers did not find any spent shell casings at the scene. This leads investigators to believe the use of prop weapons or blanks: a show of force, therefore, rather than an ambush aimed at harming people.

The alarm before dawn

Calls to the single emergency number reportedly came in shortly before dawn on Friday, between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. Some residents of Via Sorrento reported hearing explosions, prompting the Carabinieri to intervene.

According to initial reconstructions, there were three raids. The first two occurred within a short time frame, while the third followed shortly thereafter. Ballistic tests, however, did not reveal evidence consistent with the use of firearms loaded with live ammunition.

The intimidation hypothesis

Investigators believe the sequence could represent a "rollout" with intimidating intent: a planned action to reaffirm a presence on the territory and send a signal to adversaries, while at the same time avoiding an immediate escalation with injuries or casualties.
Attention is now focused on identifying the perpetrators and, above all, the possible origin of the raid. Carabinieri and investigators are examining footage from surveillance cameras in the area and gathering information from the local area.

The never-ending feud

Initial investigative evidence, all currently being examined, suggests that the shooters may have been young men believed to be close to the D'Amico-Mazzarella group. According to this theory, the message was directed at the rival Rinaldi-Reale family.
Both sides are said to have connections and interests along Via Sorrento. The Villa district, however, has long been identified by investigators as an area of ​​historical influence for the Rinaldi-Reale group.

The fear is that the triple raid represents a new chapter in a decades-long conflict that, despite arrests and investigations, continues to produce signs of instability in the neighborhood.
