Earthquake in Naples, Cumana and Circumflegrea trains suspended: rail network checks, blackouts in several neighborhoods.

The strong earthquake that struck the Campi Flegrei area this evening is causing disruption to public transport and the electricity grid in several areas of Naples.

The earthquake, recorded at 7:46 PM, was clearly felt by residents both in the capital and in several municipalities in the province. Initial estimates put the magnitude between 3.7 and 4.2.

Trains stopped on the Phlegraean lines

Following the earthquake, EAV, the company that manages regional rail transport, ordered the immediate suspension of services on the Cumana and Circumflegrea lines.

The suspension was implemented as a precaution to allow technicians to carry out all necessary checks on the railway infrastructure, as required by earthquake safety protocols.

Blackout in several areas of the city

In addition to the disruption to public transport, the earthquake also caused power outages in various neighborhoods of the city.

The reports mainly concern the center of Naples, the Chiaia neighborhood, and the western area, where many residents reported sudden blackouts immediately after the earthquake.

Fear among citizens

The tremor was clearly felt by thousands of people, many of whom took to the streets in fear. No damage to people or buildings has been reported so far, while the relevant authorities are continuing to monitor infrastructure and essential services.
