Campania, record heat: Civil Protection has issued a heatwave warning until Sunday.

The Campania Region Civil Protection Department, through its Functional Center, has issued a heatwave warning for the entire region. The alert will be in effect from 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, August 27, and will continue until 20:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, particularly affecting municipalities classified as moderate and high risk.

Peak heat and high humidity

Thermometers will record temperatures well above seasonal averages, with variations upwards of up to 6-7°C, reaching a peak on Friday, August 28. The situation will be further complicated by high humidity, which, in the evening and nighttime hours and in the absence of ventilation, will exceed 60-70% along coastal areas, increasing the perception of bioclimatic discomfort.

The rules of conduct and the appeal to the municipalities

The Civil Protection Department urges citizens to stay indoors and avoid sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day, suspending outdoor physical activity and reducing car use. Extreme caution is required for the elderly, children, those with heart conditions, and vulnerable individuals, not to mention proper hydration, proper ventilation, and proper pet care. At the same time, municipalities have been asked to activate monitoring and assistance services dedicated to the most vulnerable segments of the population.
