Caserta, man slashed in the face with a knuckleduster: two teenagers placed in a community.

A brutal attack, committed in the heart of Caserta's nightlife, culminated in a permanent facial disfigurement of a fifteen-year-old. Several months after the incident, the State Police executed a community placement order against two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, considered serious suspects in the beating that occurred on December 20th in Piazza Margherita, in the center of Caserta.

The precautionary measure was issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Juvenile Court of Naples, at the request of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, on charges of very serious injury.

Kicks, punches and the blow with the brass knuckles

According to the reconstruction by investigators from the Caserta Flying Squad, led by Massimiliano Russo, the fifteen-year-old was attacked by two peers, probably at the height of a dispute over a girl.

The victim was reportedly repeatedly kicked and punched, eventually receiving a violent blow to the face with a knuckleduster, causing permanent disfigurement. The beating reportedly occurred in front of numerous young people present in the square.

A police car intervened on the scene, while the boy was transported to Caserta hospital for treatment and subsequently discharged.

The victim's fear and the decision to investigate ex officio

In the days following the attack, the fifteen-year-old went to the police station with his parents. The family, however, decided not to file a complaint, explaining to investigators that the boy was deeply affected by the incident and lived in a state of intense fear, especially towards one of the attackers, who was believed to be capable of intimidating other children his age.

However, the presence of the permanent facial injury prompted investigators to launch an investigation anyway. Since this is a case of very serious injuries, the crime is prosecutable ex officio and does not require a complaint from the injured party.

Testimonies and medical-legal advice

The Flying Squad officers collected the testimonies of the numerous teenagers present on the evening of the attack, thus managing to reconstruct the dynamics of the events and identify the presumed perpetrators.

Subsequently, the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office ordered a forensic medical examination of the victim, which confirmed the permanent nature and particularly severe nature of the facial disfigurement. This decisive factor led the Prosecutor's Office to request a precautionary measure, which was subsequently granted by the investigating judge.

The two students were in tears as the order was carried out

The two recipients of the measure, both students with no criminal record, were escorted to the community by State Police officers. According to reports, when the measure was carried out, the students burst into tears, realizing the serious consequences their behavior could have on their futures.

The incident refocuses attention on the phenomenon of violence among young people and the escalation of attacks that, increasingly, transform trivial disagreements into extremely serious incidents, with lasting consequences for the victims and significant legal repercussions for the perpetrators, even if they are minors.
