Villa of Flowers of Acerra
Acerra – The judiciary will shed light on the tragic death of Francesco Pio Gallucci, the nineteen-year-old who died yesterday morning at the "Villa dei Fiori" nursing home in Acerra. The Nola Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation to reconstruct the exact sequence of rescue operations and determine the causes of a sudden death that has stunned the entire community.
The tragedy unfolded yesterday, when the young man arrived in critical condition at the Acerra emergency room, accompanied by his parents. Francesco Pio was suffering from a violent and extensive hemorrhage, with copious dark blood from his mouth and nose. Despite his initial clinical condition appearing dramatic, the boy was still alert and conscious upon arrival: nothing suggested such a swift and tragic outcome.
According to an initial reconstruction—still being examined by the State Police—there was a moment of profound uncertainty during the admission process at triage. The parents, frightened by the gravity of the situation and having consulted with the staff, apparently considered urgently transferring their son to a hospital in Naples considered better equipped to handle such bleeding emergencies.
The family, as reported by Il Roma, then temporarily left the facility, only to return just ten minutes later, due to the sudden and definitive deterioration in the 19-year-old's condition. At that point, the boy was taken to the emergency room on a stretcher. For long, frantic minutes, doctors desperately attempted to revive him, applying all life-saving protocols. Unfortunately, all efforts proved futile: Francesco Pio's heart stopped beating shortly thereafter, while the family's heartbreaking grief erupted in the emergency room corridors.
News of his death spread quickly through the city's historic center, where Francesco Pio was well-known and respected. The nineteen-year-old worked as a shelf-stocker in a local supermarket; friends and acquaintances remember him as a cheerful, generous young man, well-liked by everyone.
Meanwhile, the body has been seized and transferred to the forensic medicine department by order of the magistrate on duty. An autopsy will determine the source of the violent hemorrhage and clarify the exact cause of death. Simultaneously with the police investigations, the Villa dei Fiori Health Department has also announced that it has launched an internal investigation to verify strict adherence to emergency protocols throughout all phases of the rescue operation.
