Campi Flegrei, the Region's challenge: "One million euros to save tourism and jobs."

One million euros to support tourism in the Phlegraean Fields and try to mitigate the economic and image impacts of the latest bradyseismic events. This measure was announced by the Campania Region at the end of a meeting dedicated to the tourism sector, held at Palazzo Santa Lucia.

The meeting, convened by the regional Tourism Councilor Vincenzo Maraio, involved representatives of the local area and the main trade associations. The discussions focused on the challenges facing accommodation facilities, restaurants, retail, and the entire hospitality industry.

The Region has allocated €1 million from FSC funds to launch an extraordinary local promotion and marketing initiative. The goal is to improve the perception of the tourist destination and continue to attract visitors even during the emergency.

"We must address the emergency, as we are doing as a Region and as the Government is doing, but at the same time we must work to safeguard the local economy and employment. The promotion of the Campi Flegrei must begin now, without waiting until the difficult phase is finally over," Maraio stated.

Among the initiatives envisaged is a stronger promotional presence at airports, train stations, and major arrival and transit hubs, accompanied by communications campaigns aimed at the most important tourist markets.

"We need to forcefully showcase this extraordinary region, its beauty, its history, its archaeological heritage, its sea, its food and wine, and the quality of its tourism offerings," added the councilor. "We need to invest in a targeted campaign capable of reaching the main markets and large tourist flows."

The strategy therefore aims to support the sector immediately, but also to pave the way for recovery. "We need to act now, because things are planned. The response must be concrete: supporting operators during the most difficult phase and, at the same time, investing in the destination's reputation and attractiveness," Maraio concluded.

Campania Region President Roberto Fico also reiterated institutional support for the area. "The Region stands with the Campi Flegrei and its community, with those who live and work there. We are addressing the emergency in every area, thanks to the work of all the councilors and in coordination with all the institutions," he stated.

For Fico, emergency management must proceed alongside planning for the future: "Intervening also means thinking now about the future of the region: protecting its economy, employment, and image is a commitment we take on responsibly."
