Grand Hotel Salerno
The Grand Hotel Salerno has suspended hospitality operations. The Municipal Police have enforced the measures resulting from the failure to pay a debt of millions of euros owed to the City Council, after the 90-day deadline.
The property on the Tafuri seafront has long been at the center of a dispute with the municipal administration led by Vincenzo De Luca. "After the 90 days required to repay the millions of euros in debt expired, this morning, following yet another failure to pay, the municipal police implemented the resulting measures. Therefore, as of today, the hotel and related hospitality activities are suspended," the City of Salerno announced.
The matter has dragged on for years amid appeals and requests for installment payments, which, according to the City Hall, have not been honored. The Administration also emphasizes that the debts owed to the institution have not expired.
The Municipality has already filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Financial Police regarding the management of the facility. The reports and minutes collected by the Municipal Police during the latest investigations will be added to the documentation already filed.
The measure comes after yet another missed payment and marks a new chapter in the long-running dispute between the administration and the Grand Hotel Salerno, with the suspension affecting both the accommodation business and all related businesses.
