Heatwaves: 25 Italian cities under red alert for another two days

The heat wave affecting much of Italy shows no signs of abating. The Ministry of Health has confirmed a red alert for Tuesday, August 4th, and Wednesday, August 5th, in 25 of the 27 cities monitored.

This alert level indicates extremely dangerous weather conditions, especially for the elderly, children, and people with chronic conditions. The only two cities not reaching the red alert level, but rather the orange one—which still signals risks for the most vulnerable—are Messina and Reggio Calabria.

Among the cities affected by the most severe alert are major centers such as Rome, Milan, Naples, Turin, Florence, and Bologna, as well as numerous other locations throughout the country.

Health authorities recommend maximum caution, constant hydration, and limiting outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day to avoid health problems related to high temperatures.
