Illegal waste collection activity discovered in Scampia: 115 cubic meters of special waste seized

Castellammare – Investigations into environmental crimes continue in Naples. In the Scampia neighborhood, Carabinieri officers from the Ecological Operations Unit (NOE), along with officers from the Napoli-Stella Company, discovered an illegal hazardous waste collection operation operating without the required environmental permits.

According to the military's findings, a company that was formally inactive was actually continuing to collect and recover ferrous waste. The plant was apparently managed by a 39-year-old entrepreneur, who has now been reported to the judicial authorities.

Over 115 cubic meters of waste illegally stored

During the inspection, the Carabinieri found approximately 115 cubic meters of hazardous waste, consisting primarily of scrap metal and electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), accumulated and stored without the necessary authorizations required by environmental legislation.

The activity was allegedly carried out without any permit, in violation of the provisions governing the treatment and recovery of special waste.

The entire area has been seized

Upon completion of the investigation, the military ordered the precautionary seizure of the entire site, an area of ​​approximately 800 square meters, along with the waste present. The complex was placed under judicial custody pending further action by the competent authority.

The business owner has been reported. The 39-year-old will face charges of illegal waste management and unauthorized dumping of industrial waste.
