Naples, the four-day gallery
The Quattro Giornate Tunnel will be closed for two consecutive nights to allow for work related to preparations for the America's Cup. The Naples City Council's Road and Traffic Department has ordered the tunnel to be closed to vehicular traffic from 11:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, to 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, with the same time slot also scheduled for the following night.
The measure is part of the preparatory work plan for the prestigious international sailing competition that will take place in the Neapolitan capital.
Along with the tunnel closure, a traffic ban will also be in effect on Via Salita della Grotta, except for vehicles heading to or from the same road. To ensure smooth flow of traffic, traffic controllers will be present.
During the same time slots, the preferential lane in the Galleria Laziale will also be suspended, allowing vehicles to reach the Fuorigrotta area without further restrictions.
The temporary traffic changes were implemented to allow for preliminary work related to the America's Cup, an event that will put Naples at the center of the international scene. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys ahead of time and use alternative routes during the two nights affected by the work.
