Campi Flegrei, another magnitude-3 earthquake struck overnight: over 2.170 people displaced. Pressure is mounting on the government to declare a state of emergency.

Another night of fear in the Phlegraean Fields. Bradyseism continues to keep the population of the Phlegraean Fields in suspense. During the night between Sunday and Monday, a new magnitude 3.0 earthquake was recorded at 2:27 a.m., with its epicenter in the Phlegraean Fields and a hypocenter about four kilometers deep, according to data from the INGV Vesuvius Observatory.

After the main event, the seismic sequence continued with four other minor tremors, ranging in magnitude from 1.0 to 1.3, recorded between 2:56 and 4:42 am, confirming a phase of persistent bradyseismic activity.

A new tremor warning immediately spread on social media. The 2:27 a.m. earthquake was clearly felt on the island of Procida, as well as in the Neapolitan neighborhoods of Bagnoli, Agnano, Fuorigrotta, and Pianura. Many residents expressed their disappointment: "Enough, we're tired," they wrote.

Over 2.170 people forced to leave their homes

Meanwhile, the toll from the emergency triggered by the strong earthquake of July 31st, which caused damage to numerous buildings in the Pozzuoli area, continues to grow.

According to the latest data released by the Municipality of Pozzuoli, 123 evacuation or interdiction orders have already been issued, affecting 831 families, for a total of 2.172 people evacuated.

Of these:

2.060 have found independent accommodation;
112 are hosted in hotel facilities;
Another 68 people, although not subject to eviction orders, are being hosted at the Palatrincone.
Non-stop checks on buildings

The work of the Rescue Coordination Center, established by the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, in collaboration with the National Department of Civil Protection, the Campania Region, and all the operational structures involved in the emergency, continues uninterrupted.

The balance of the activities highlights an impressive deployment of men and resources:

approximately 1.200 firefighter interventions already completed;
144 checks still to be carried out;
198 buildings cleared;
930 homes evacuated for safety reasons.

On that day alone, 36 damage assessment modules were deployed, along with a specialized team to inspect cultural heritage assets and five teams dedicated to recovering the household goods of evacuated families.

"The synergy between all institutions is proving to be extremely effective. The top priority remains protecting the safety of citizens, minimizing disruption and ensuring concrete responses on a door-to-door basis," stated Prefect Michele di Bari.

The center-right: "A state of emergency is needed immediately."

On the political front, the debate on the measures to be adopted is intensifying.

The center-right Regional Council announced the presentation of a resolution urging Regional President Roberto Fico to immediately request the government declare a state of emergency.

According to opposition leader Gennaro Sangiuliano, along with group leaders Massimo Pelliccia, Raffaele Maria Pisacane, Massimo Grimaldi, and Sebastiano Odierna, only this tool would speed up the process and overcome bureaucratic obstacles.

The goal, center-right representatives explain, is to ensure immediate responses to the displaced, commercial, and business communities in the Phlegraean Fields area, postponing any discussion of a special law for the reconstruction and urban planning of the area until a later stage.

An emergency destined to continue

The new tremors confirm that the bradyseismic crisis in the Campi Flegrei remains one of the main national emergencies. While the INGV continues its ongoing monitoring and assessments of the stability of buildings, thousands of residents are still living far from their homes, waiting for the results of the tests and a safe return.

Meanwhile, institutional pressure is growing to adopt extraordinary measures to accelerate interventions and provide concrete support to families, businesses, and local authorities faced with a situation that, day after day, continues to severely test the Phlegraean Fields.
