Pompeii lights up at night: evening visits from August 28th to October 10th

From late August to mid-October, the evocative setting of Great Pompeii comes alive even in the evening hours. Visitors can explore the famous archaeological sites of Pompeii, Oplontis, Boscoreale, and Stabiae with night tours organized every Friday and Saturday.

The initiative aims to enhance the archaeological heritage with innovative methods that combine culture, research, and entertainment. In Pompeii, two distinct itineraries begin in Piazza Anfiteatro: one includes the large gymnasium with casts of the eruption's victims and several important domus, such as the Praedia of Julia Felix, the House of Venus in the Shell, and the House of Octavius ​​Quartius; the other leads to the Villa of the Mysteries and the Villa Regina di Boscoreale.

Special openings are also planned for the Boscoreale Antiquarium, while in Oplontis, at Villa Poppea, historical reenactments and educational activities will take place. Villa San Marco and Villa Arianna will also be accessible in this nocturnal setting. At the heart of the cultural program is the second edition of Esopop, entitled "Ecstatic Pompeii."

The Dionysian City, Between Fury and Mystery, a project that this year celebrates the figure of Dionysus and his mystery cults. This theme was also chosen following the recent important discovery in Regio IX, where the House of the Thiasos, a refined domus dedicated to the deity, revealed a precious Dionysian procession currently undergoing restoration, destined to be opened to the public in the future.

Nighttime visits offer an opportunity to experience archaeological sites in a different light, enhanced by theatrical performances and a magical atmosphere that recalls the ancient history of these areas.
