Campania Libri Festival presents its fifth edition in Naples

From October 1st to 4th, Naples hosts the fifth edition of the Campania Libri Festival, directed by Ruggero Cappuccio and curated by Massimo Adinolfi. The event, supported by the Campania Region and organized by the Fondazione Campania dei Festival, pays homage to the 50th anniversary of Roberto De Simone's La gatta Cenerentola (Cenerentola the Cat) and takes place in the Palazzo Reale and the National Library.

Location, dates and international protagonists

Approximately 300 events and 130 exhibitors are scheduled. The program includes meetings organized in collaboration with cultural institutions such as the Instituto Cervantes in Naples, the Institut Français de Naples, the Goethe-Institut Neapel, the Polish Institute in Rome, the University of Naples L'Orientale, and the Circulo de Bellas Artes de Madrid. International guests include Santiago Gamboa, Edurne Portela, José Ovejero, Aixa de la Cruz, Lidija Dimkovska, the Macedonian poet Hajar Azell, Martin Rueff, Anna Kańtoch, and Ann Cotten, along with the Wandering Translators collective.

The Campania Region's annual support for Campania Libri is a tangible sign of our daily commitment to reading, writing, and the circulation of ideas: irreplaceable levers for fostering civic growth and strengthening the cohesion of our community. This edition pays homage to La gatta Cenerentola, a masterpiece of Roberto De Simone's theatrical tradition, a work that remains contemporary. This year, the festival focuses on multidisciplinarity, stimulating curiosity and research and fostering dialogue between science, the performing arts, and national and international cultures.

Key meetings and thematic focus

In addition to content related to "Cenerentola the Cat," the program features "Ancient Fables," staged readings, and performances. On Sunday at 12:30, a conversation between Mario Martone and Councilor Ninni Cutaia will take place. Speakers include Massimo Adinolfi, Stefano Mancuso, Alberto Rollo, Tino Iannuzzi, Silvio Perrella, Pier Ferdinando Casini, Enrica Lisciani Petrini, and many others, with events also available remotely. Writing workshops, readings, and a section dedicated to the historical memory of Naples will be featured, along with a focus on cinema and theater.

Off and collaborations

Two OFF events complete the program: on September 28th at the Institut Français di Napoli – Palazzo Il Grenoble, with a discussion on the comic book adaptation of L'Anomalie; and on October 23rd, a book signing with cartoonist Pera Toons at Palazzo Venezia, in collaboration with Ubik. Partnerships include RAI, the Order of Journalists, and Il Mattino for the Matilde Serao Prize, as well as collaborations with Italian and European universities and institutes. The Festival also features a section dedicated to young audiences and children's fiction readings.
