Buffalo emergency in Caserta, Coldiretti: "Dozens of farmers affected by cancellations."

The Caserta buffalo sector is alarmed by a series of unilateral cancellations of supply contracts, which, according to Coldiretti, are putting dozens of farms in difficulty. The provincial federation has requested an urgent meeting with Caserta Prefect Lucia Volpe to address a situation that risks impacting the province's entire dairy supply chain.

The phenomenon, reported in recent weeks, is generating serious concern among operators in a sector considered strategic to the Terra di Lavoro economy. Several livestock farms, after having planned investments and production activities, are reportedly suddenly finding themselves without commercial outlets due to the decisions of their buyers.

The alarm was raised by Coldiretti Caserta president Enrico Amico, who cites a climate of growing tension among farmers. "This situation is generating widespread and justified tension and profound discontent among operators, with the real risk that the unrest could escalate into serious problems for public order and the economic stability of the entire region," Amico denounces.

According to Coldiretti, the difficulty doesn't just affect individual businesses, but risks affecting a sector that represents one of the province's main economic and employment drivers, as well as being tied to internationally recognized production.

For this reason, the agricultural organization has asked Prefect Volpe to convene an urgent meeting to explain the situation in detail and identify possible interventions to protect companies and the PDO supply chain.

"We ask Prefect Volpe, who has always demonstrated sensitivity to the issues facing our region, to protect the stability of a key sector that cannot be destroyed by speculation or opaque market logic," Amico concludes.

The request for intervention comes at a delicate time for Caserta's buffalo farmers, who are seeking guarantees regarding the continuity of their commercial outlets and the maintenance of a supply chain central to the local economy.
