Children taken from Fortuna's father in Lanciano: Lawyers say "The mother is not a drug addict."

"It's essential to clarify the situation regarding the mother of the children taken away from Lanciano, above all out of respect for her dignity and to prevent images broadcast on television from being used to create a completely false image of her: Pietro Loffredo's partner is not a drug addict."

This is the position taken by lawyers Angelo and Sergio Pisani, legal representatives of Pietro Loffredo, father of Fortuna Loffredo, and Giovanna Orta, mother of the three children aged 7, 4, and 2, who were taken away by social services in Lanciano on September 17th.

According to reports, the deputy prosecutor at the Juvenile Court of L'Aquila has asked the judge to validate the order placing the three brothers in a community.

The lawyers' position also focuses on the woman's health, following the images of her face broadcast on television and subsequently shared on social media. "The appearance of her teeth," the lawyers explain, "as shown and commented on in the television images, is not the result of drug use, but is attributable to serious conditions, including significant osteoporosis and severe periodontitis, conditions that have severely impacted her oral health and teeth."

Hence the call to avoid judgments based on physical appearance. "It is therefore unacceptable for social media to transform a pathological condition into a social stigma, implying that a mother is a drug addict when this is not the case," the professionals state.

The lawyers also request that the proceedings be evaluated exclusively on the basis of the evidence available in the case file. "When minors and a family undergoing a particularly sensitive proceeding are involved, it is essential that any assessment be based on documents, medical reports, and concrete evidence, and not on physical appearance or television performances."

"The suffering of a sick person cannot be used as evidence against them," add Angelo and Sergio Pisani, who conclude: "This is why we ask that the truth of the facts be respected and, above all, the dignity of the mother of these children, preventing a pathology from being mistaken for something it is not."
