Pozzuoli – After about an hour of tension, the protest by Phlegraean residents ended this morning, blocking access to the port of Pozzuoli, paralyzing maritime connections to the islands of Ischia and Procida. The protest, sparked by the latest seismic swarm linked to bradyseism, was called off only after confirmation of a direct meeting with Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi.

The breakthrough came thanks to the mediation of the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, who firmly reiterated the need to guarantee the free circulation of ferries, but also secured a formal commitment to a face-to-face meeting between a delegation of protesters and the Interior Minister. The meeting is scheduled for tomorrow in Naples, where Minister Piantedosi is expected for an urgent meeting on the bradyseismic crisis with the mayors of the Phlegraean Fields area.

During the protest, the port area was monitored by police. The blockade, however, caused significant disruption: an incoming ship was forced to divert to Naples, while two other ships incurred significant delays. After the meeting was overturned, the protesters decided to disband the protest, allowing the gradual resumption of normal ferry services to and from the islands.
