Earthquake in Pozzuoli: 130 families evacuated, port closed due to a crack in the pier

After the earthquake, firefighters and municipal technicians conducted urgent static assessments. Evacuations primarily affected the port areas, with critical areas on Via Pisani, Via Roma, and Via Fasano.

Pozzuoli is mobilizing to address the consequences of the recent earthquake that struck the city. During the night and early morning, Naples firefighters, led by Commander Giuseppe Paduano, evacuated 130 families, mostly concentrated in the port area. The areas most affected by the evacuations are Via Pisani, Via Roma, and Via Fasano, the latter reported as the hardest hit by the earthquake.

Static inspections of the buildings are still ongoing, with about twenty inspections conducted overnight and approximately sixty requests still to be processed. The increase in requests for assistance continues, complicating the speed of the investigations. Commander Paduano highlighted the difficulties encountered during nighttime operations, due to the lack of light and the difficulty of reaching certain areas.

This morning, a plan was developed to systematically complete all inspections, with the support of Pozzuoli municipal technicians. A significant issue concerns the city's port, where a significant crack has appeared in the pier, forcing the temporary closure of the area to ensure safety.

Local authorities continue to monitor the situation, urging the public to exercise caution while carrying out checks on damaged infrastructure and buildings.
