An attempted scam targeting a Torrimpietra family was stopped thanks to the timely intervention of the Carabinieri, who arrested a man already known to law enforcement.

A fake Carabiniere scam was foiled in Torrimpietra: a 33-year-old Neapolitan man was arrested.
A 33-year-old from the province of Naples, with a criminal record for property crimes, was arrested red-handed in Torrimpietra while attempting to carry out a scam against a local family. The criminal, along with an accomplice, employed the "fake policeman" technique.
The latter called a 61-year-old man, posing as a Carabinieri officer, and allegedly urged him to come to the station, thus removing him from the home. The accomplice subsequently contacted the son who remained at home, claiming that his father was at risk of arrest, and demanded the immediate surrender of jewelry, watches, and €500 in cash to avoid the alleged measure.
Meanwhile, the Carabinieri, coordinated by the Civitavecchia Company's Operations Center, positioned themselves inside the home and stopped the 33-year-old as he showed up to collect the loot. Investigations are continuing to identify any accomplices involved in the scam.
