The Regional Council of Campi Flegrei will meet on August 27th to discuss urgent measures.

The Campania Regional Council will meet on August 27th to address the emergency in the Phlegraean Fields. The group leaders' conference, chaired by Assembly President Massimiliano Manfredi, has scheduled the single-issue session for 11:00 a.m., with the session continuing indefinitely.

The discussion will focus on urgent support for the earthquake-affected population and the measures to be adopted during the emergency phase. The request for an extraordinary meeting had been made by minority groups, also in light of the possible declaration of a national state of emergency.

The group leaders' meeting lasted approximately two and a half hours. The discussion opened with a speech by opposition leader Gennaro Sangiuliano, explaining the reasons for the request, followed by a briefing by Regional Council President Roberto Fico. According to a statement, the speech was unanimously welcomed by the representatives of the various groups.

Initially, the option of convening the Chamber on August 15th was also considered. The choice of August 27th was instead motivated by the need to await the progress of the Steering Committee coordinated by the Prefecture, which is engaged in drafting amendments to the Government decree, as well as the upcoming deadlines for their submission.

The goal, according to what emerged from the meeting, is to reach the council debate with a clearer picture, not simply an act of solidarity towards the affected communities. The meeting should serve to identify concrete tools to address the emergency.

Manfredi also ordered the assignment of the bills already submitted on the topic to the relevant committees, starting with the one submitted by the Democratic Party group. The hope is to quickly reach a unified text agreed upon by all political forces, which will then be submitted to the Regional Council for consideration.
