Tragedy in Marina di Camerota: Irene Belluccio found dead.

The search for Irene Belluccio, the 72-year-old woman from Marina di Camerota who had been missing for approximately 48 hours, came to a dramatic end. Her lifeless body was discovered this afternoon, around 4:30 PM, in a narrow valley in the Marco area of ​​the municipality of Camerota.

The tragic discovery was made by rescue teams who had been conducting a thorough search of the entire area for two days. The massive rescue effort involved the Fire Brigade, Carabinieri, and Civil Protection volunteers working in perfect synergy, with extensive checks extending to the areas of Previteri, Sirene, Asciania, and Sinna, and inspections also conducted at local wells.

The complex operations to recover the body from the cliff are still ongoing. The discovery has definitively dashed the hopes of the family and the entire local community, who for two days have anxiously followed the operations, hoping for the woman's return home.

Also in the Camerota area, at the same time, a rescue operation for two hikers missing in the Marcellino valley concluded successfully.

The alarm was raised shortly after midday, when the two men, both in their early thirties and originally from the Naples area, reported that they had lost their bearings and were unable to find the path back.

The Drago helicopter from the Pontecagnano fire department was deployed. From above, the crew spotted the two hikers and coordinated with the ground team from the Policastro detachment.

Rescuers then reached the two men and secured them. Both were found to be in good health and were handed over to the 118 emergency personnel on site for further assessment.
