Camorra: Angelino clan dismantled, 34 arrests

The operation began at first light today by the Carabinieri of the Castello di Cisterna Investigative Unit and the Operational Sections of the Caivano and Casoria Companies, engaged in executing a precautionary measure issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples, at the request of the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate.

Thirty-four people have been placed under the precautionary measure. The suspects are considered seriously indicted, to varying degrees, for a series of crimes that, according to the prosecution's findings, outline the existence and operation of a criminal organization rooted in the area north of Naples.

The DDA's hypothesis: an armed association

At the center of the investigation is an armed Camorra-style organization that, according to investigators, is headed by the Angelino clan, active between Caivano and Casoria.

The charges include conspiracy to traffic narcotics, extortion, and possession with intent to distribute drugs. Some of the charges also allege the aggravating circumstance of mafia methods.

Drugs, extortion and territorial control

The indictment outlined by the Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office therefore points to an organization that allegedly operated through a variety of illicit activities, from drug trafficking and dealing to extortion.

The investigation will now be examined by the judiciary at various stages of the proceedings. The individuals involved remain under investigation, and their responsibilities will be determined with a final ruling.

The operation is part of a broader investigative effort in the area north of Naples, where law enforcement and the Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) have concentrated numerous efforts to combat organized crime and drug trafficking in recent years.
