Campania: Strong winds and storm surges starting this evening: Weather alert in effect until Wednesday.

Naples – A weather alert for wind and sea conditions has been issued in Campania starting at 4:00 PM today, valid throughout the region until 12:00 PM on Wednesday, September 23. The regional Civil Protection Department issued the alert based on assessments by the Functional Center.

Locally strong north-northeast winds are expected, with possible gusts, and rough seas, with storm surges along the most exposed coasts. The warning also applies to Naples, the metropolitan area, and the coastlines, including the open stretches of the Amalfi Coast, ports, and marinas. The wind alert is not associated with a color code.

Municipalities are urged to implement the measures outlined in their civil protection plans. In particular, public green spaces should be inspected and the integrity of trees, scaffolding, signs, and other structures exposed to gusts and waves should be verified.

No precipitation-related issues are expected. The hydrogeological risk warning remains green: this code indicates only the absence, at the current time, of a hydrogeological risk associated with the forecast conditions.
