Thunderstorms expected in Campania this evening
Naples – A yellow weather alert has been issued for the entire Campania region this evening. The regional Civil Protection Department, based on assessments from the Functional Center, has issued the warning, effective from 10:00 PM today, Thursday, September 10, until 2:00 PM tomorrow, Friday, September 11. Showers and sudden thunderstorms are expected, most likely at night.
These phenomena could develop and intensify quickly. Hail, lightning, and gusts of wind are possible, with possible damage to roofs and exposed structures and falling trees or branches. The alert also signals a risk of hydrogeological damage.
Among the ground effects reported by the Functional Center and communicated to the municipalities by the Unified Operations Room (SORU) are flooding, overflowing, water flowing onto roads, rising levels of minor watercourses, falling rocks, landslides on fragile soils, and backflow of rainwater drainage systems. Local authorities are asked to activate the measures envisaged in the municipal civil protection plans.
In particular, the Region urges people to monitor public green spaces and structures most exposed to the wind. The yellow alert corresponds to a standard critical situation: it doesn't necessarily imply extreme phenomena everywhere, but it does require attention, especially at night and in areas already vulnerable to landslides and flooding.
