Casoria: Car crashes on the wrong side of the road with family on board; truck driver avoids worst-case scenario

Casoria – A car carrying a father, mother, and a young child was traveling the wrong way on the SP1/Circumvallazione Esterna highway, between Casoria and Volla. An extremely dangerous situation, which could have turned tragic, was averted thanks to the timely intervention of a truck driver.

The alarm and the maneuver

Antonio Gargiulo, the driver of a truck traveling the same stretch of road, immediately noticed what was happening. He pulled alongside the car, traveling at a slow speed, and firmly called the driver's attention, pointing out his mistake and allowing him to safely correct his trajectory.

The video sent to Borrelli

The incident was documented on video, later sent to Green-Left MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli. The recording reveals the details of the incident: the car traveling in the wrong direction, the timely approach of the heavy vehicle, and the maneuver that brought the vehicle back into the correct lane.
