The Naples Flying Squad, with the assistance of the Border Police at the Leonardo da Vinci airport, executed a precautionary detention order against a man seriously suspected of the murder of Salvatore D'Orsi, committed in Naples on March 12, 2016.
The order was issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Naples at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate. The recipient of the order, who had since gone into hiding, was sentenced to life imprisonment on May 28, 2026, following the summary trial.
The sentence recognized the Camorra's involvement and premeditation in the murder. The arrest in Fiumicino is part of a broader investigation involving a total of seven suspects, including the murders of Mario Volpicelli, on January 30, 2016, and Giovanni Sarno, on March 6 of the same year.
The three crimes took place in Ponticelli and, according to the investigative reconstruction, were committed by members of the Schisa/Minichini Camorra gang, active at the time in the De Gasperi district and allied with the Rinaldi/Reale clan of San Giovanni a Teduccio.
The murders were also thought to be part of the ongoing conflict between the Schisa/Minichini group and their former allies, the Sarno clan, following the decision by the latter's leading figures to cooperate with the justice system.
The investigation was also conducted through the testimony of several collaborators of justice. However, the recipient of the measure remains presumptively innocent until a final sentence is reached.
