Giuseppe Prisco, who had been on the run for about a year and was captured in Barcelona last May pursuant to a European arrest warrant, was extradited and arrested at Fiumicino Airport.
The man was sentenced to life imprisonment, in the first instance, for the murder of Salvatore D'Orsi, which took place in Ponticelli on March 12, 2016. This morning, Prisco landed at Fiumicino Airport, and officers from the Naples Flying Squad, with the assistance of the Border Police, executed a precautionary detention order issued by the Preliminary Investigations Judge of the Court of Naples, at the request of the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate.
The man had been sentenced to life imprisonment on May 28th of this year with a fast-track trial and the preliminary hearing judge recognized the aggravating circumstance of Camorra involvement and premeditation.
The precautionary measure is part of a more complex investigation involving seven suspects in various capacities, conducted with the assistance of statements from several collaborators of justice, also in relation to the murders of Mario Volpicelli, which occurred on January 30, 2016, and Giovanni Sarno, on June 6, 2016, both in Ponticelli.
According to the prosecution, the murders were allegedly carried out by members of the Schisa-Minichini Camorra gang, which at the time operated in the De Gasperi district of the Ponticelli neighborhood and was allied with the Rinaldi-Reale clan of San Giovanni a Teduccio.
According to investigators, the attacks were triggered by the strong opposition between the Schisa-Minichini clan and their former allies from the Sarno clan, following the choice made by the main exponents of the latter criminal group to undertake a path of collaboration with justice.
