Bad weather in the North: A woman drowns in an underpass.

Latisana – She drowned in her car, trapped in a flooded underpass. It happened this morning in Latisana, in the province of Udine.

A Carabinieri officer, who arrived on the scene after the 112 call, dived into the water to try to save the driver and managed to extract her from the vehicle. Unfortunately, the woman died. The officer was later taken to the hospital with a green code. His condition is not life-threatening.

Firefighters are working on site with numerous crews. The entire area between Latisana, Lignano, and lower Friuli has suffered severe disruption and flooding due to the severe weather that hit last night and this morning.
