A total of 324 weapons have been seized in Naples and the metropolitan area over the past two months. Law enforcement has intensified its control efforts to combat the spread of weapons and address criminal supply chains.
The Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, provided the update, noting that the operations involved both the capital and several municipalities in the metropolitan area. The checks allowed, among other things, the identification and dismantling of several suspected storage and supply points, addressing incidents of illegal possession, receiving stolen goods, and illegal possession of weapons.
Specifically, in July, approximately 173 handguns, long guns, bladed weapons, bullets, ammunition, and explosives were seized. In August, the total reached 151, with seizures of various types of weapons and ammunition.
The operation is part of a special plan implemented by the Prefecture of Naples, which aims to remove offensive weapons from the hands of criminals and, at the same time, prevent incidents of petty crime and youth gang-related phenomena.
"The extraordinary plan launched aims not only to remove offensive weapons from the streets, but also to prevent petty crime and the activities of youth gangs by protecting places with the highest influx of people," the Prefecture emphasizes.
High levels of vigilance will remain in place in the coming weeks. Law enforcement will continue to be present on the ground with regular patrols and enhanced monitoring of the most sensitive areas, aiming to ensure safety and legality.
