Rosario Porzio
Two vocations, one story: Rosario Porzio, Italy's best pharmacist. Rosario Porzio's professional story brings together two seemingly distant worlds: pharmacy and cinema. Two worlds that have accompanied him at different times in his life and have repeatedly crossed paths over the years. Today, Porzio is best known for his work in the pharmaceutical industry and for the over 50 awards and recognitions he has received, but his career began many years earlier in front of the cameras.
In the 1980s, Rosario Porzio was known in the entertainment world as Yari Porzio. As a young actor, he managed to gain recognition in the film scene of the time and won several important awards. Among these was the Palinuro Award, associated with the film Vacanze d'estate, shot in Palinuro and in which Porzio played the leading role.
Film seemed poised to become his profession. In 1986, he even received recognition in Rome as an emerging actor, confirming his potential for a future in show business. Porzio, however, decided to make a different choice and abandon that career path to return to Naples.
His decision was primarily driven by his desire to build his future through study and a profession in which he felt he was truly suited. Thus began his university studies, which would lead to a degree in Pharmacy with honors.
His training in Italy was followed by experiences in the United Kingdom, with studies and training in Great Britain and Oxford. Pharmacy gradually became the center of his professional life.
Over the years, Porzio participated in regular competitions for pharmacy assignments, eventually opening his own pharmacy in San Ferdinando di Puglia. Alongside his professional career, he also began to engage in activities aimed at colleagues interested in regular and special competitions for Italian pharmacy assignments.
His name has become increasingly recognized in the pharmaceutical industry, thanks in part to the numerous awards he has received. In 2019, he was awarded the title of "Mister Pharmacist of Italy," and in 2025, he was named "Best Italian Pharmacist." Numerous other awards have been added, bringing his total to over 50.
The definition of "Italy's most awarded pharmacist" was used precisely to describe this long professional journey, marked by awards received at various points in his career.
Yet the move to the pharmacy didn't mean the end of her relationship with cinema. Her passion for the entertainment world remained, and over time, it took on different forms than at the beginning.
Porzio also embarked on a career in artistic management, collaborating with Fabrizio Rivelli, manager and costume designer, and cousin of Ornella Muti. This experience allowed him to return to the entertainment world, this time no longer as an actor but as a manager and talent scout.
During this period, he mentored several young performers and worked with names such as Massimiliano Morra, Mario Ermito, and Raffaella Di Caprio. Among the projects completed during this period was the Angels calendar series.
In 2019, another recognition arrived specifically related to this sector: the title of “Manager of the Decade”.
His relationship with cinema then evolved further. After working as an actor and later as a manager, Porzio also ventured into film production.
Among her most recent projects is L'amore e basta, a film directed by Daniele Catini and produced by Porzio, which also received recognition in the United States. This experience allowed her to rediscover cinema in yet another light, transforming a passion born in the 1980s into a professional career that matured many years later.
Pharmacy and cinema have thus become the two poles of a particularly unique career path. On one side, healthcare, education, and entrepreneurship; on the other, the world of entertainment, management, and film production.
Training also connects these paths. Education has been a constant throughout Porzio's professional life, first with his degree in Pharmacy and later through his training experiences, including abroad.
His connection to the local area remains an important part of his story. Despite his extensive professional experience, Rosario Porzio has maintained a strong connection with Naples, Pozzuoli, and Monterusciello, places that are a fundamental part of his identity.
Speaking of Pozzuoli and its hamlet, he clearly expressed his feelings: “I love Pozzuoli but I owe everything to its hamlet Monterusciello, which I love.”
A bond with her homeland that was recently highlighted through the recognition of "Neapolitan Excellence in the World," received together with her cousin Annamaria Colao, a leading figure in Italian scientific research.
Rosario Porzio's career thus recounts a career built through very different choices. The young Yari Porzio, who was just starting out in the cinema in the 1980s, chose to return to Naples and become a pharmacist, but he never completely abandoned the world of entertainment.
Pharmacy has become the heart of his business and the sector in which he has garnered the most recognition. Cinema, however, has remained a passion, capable of transforming over time: first as an actor, then through artistic management, and finally through film production.
It's precisely these two worlds that make Porzio's story unique. Pharmacy and cinema, two seemingly distant paths that have ended up crossing several times in his professional career.
Today, looking at the many awards he has received and the diverse activities he has undertaken, the portrait emerges of a multifaceted professional, capable of building a career without giving up his passions and always maintaining a strong connection to his origins.
From the 1980s on set to the pharmacy, from showbiz talent to film production, Rosario Porzio continues to move between two worlds that have, in different ways, marked his professional life.
