Ponticelli, stopped by the Carabinieri, provides his brother's personal details because he was under house arrest: arrested

It was late at night in the Ponticelli neighborhood of Naples when the Carabinieri of the Naples Ponticelli station stopped a car with four people inside, on Via Mario Palermo.

The driver, claiming to have forgotten his ID, attempted to evade the checks by providing his brother's details. Subsequent checks revealed that the photo on the license did not match the 42-year-old.

Checks were carried out with the Carabinieri operations centre and it emerged that the man was under house arrest.

His name is Antonio Improta. He was arrested and faces charges of escape and false identity statements; he is currently awaiting trial.

His wife and two other passengers were reportedly also in the car. The man offered no explanation as to why he was on the street instead of at home.
