Another attack at the Cardarelli hospital: a security guard and a nurse were injured.

A security guard and a nurse were injured during an overnight attack in the emergency room of the Cardarelli Hospital in Naples. According to the Naples CISL (National Union of Public Functions), the incident occurred while staff were trying to calm the family of a seventeen-year-old boy hospitalized after an accident.

The security guard reportedly suffered injuries to an arm and a leg. The nurse, who intervened to calm the situation, suffered a testicular injury. Both were treated and are under observation.

"Enough with this repeated violence," declared Nino Matteo, general secretary of the CISL FP in Naples. "After the Ospedale del Mare and the Pellegrini hospital, now the Cardarelli hospital. It's a spiral that won't stop unless effective measures are adopted for those working to save lives."

For Matteo, the measures taken so far are insufficient: "Corporate solidarity and measures that have proven ineffective are not enough. We need clear safeguards and adequate protection." The union is therefore calling for a 24-hour army presence in hospitals to ensure the safety of those working in the city's healthcare facilities.

The CISL FP company secretariat also denounces the pressure placed on its staff: "Colleagues work daily under heavy workloads and constant alarms, and they cannot afford to risk their own health. Worker safety is not a privilege, but a fundamental right."
