Bradisimo and restaurants: Michelin-starred chef Peppe Guida: "We have to live with this phenomenon; let's help the Phlegraean restaurants."

Pozuoli — Encourage, support, and express solidarity with restaurateurs in the Phlegraean Fields area, who are faced with the daily challenge of coexisting with bradyseism. This was the heartfelt appeal launched by Peppe Guida, Michelin-starred chef of Antica Osteria Nonna Rosa in Vico Equense, during an evening event held in Pozzuoli at the Armonì restaurant.

A clear, non-scaremongering message aimed at shining a spotlight on a sector that's crucial to the local economy and identity. "Restaurants in the Phlegraean Fields area need help and assistance," Guida emphasized. "Living with bradyseism isn't easy, but we're talking about a natural phenomenon that has always existed and that we'll need to continue to get used to. There used to be less information, but that's the way things are. The smell of sulfur? It really stimulates me; it reminds me of thermal waters and is good for the body."

Host chef Mariano Armonia is on the same wavelength, urging the industry to unite and be resilient: "We must continue to believe in our land and value the restaurant industry, which is first and foremost about conviviality and sharing. Bradyseism has existed for millennia, the earth beneath us is alive and sometimes plays tricks, but we mustn't be afraid right now. We're counting on quality, seasonality, and the strength to stick together."

An invitation, therefore, to look to the future with confidence, transforming the unique characteristics of a unique region into the true strength of Campanian gastronomy.
