The operation
Two foreign citizens have been reported by the State Police for illegally discharging cement waste into a drainage canal in San Tammaro, in the province of Caserta. The incident occurred yesterday evening on Via Parco Fava, near a local business.
The two men were spotted by Italian Army personnel, who were carrying out territorial patrols. They found them on a tractor unloading cement into the canal. They immediately reported the incident to the officers of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Police Station's Flying Squad, who responded to the scene.
Officers identified the two alleged perpetrators and the owners of the business, and began investigations to reconstruct the circumstances of the spill. Upon completion of the investigation, the two were reported to the judicial authorities.
They were also charged with several traffic violations. They were ordered to restore the site to its previous condition, restoring the canal and the affected area.
During the checks, it was also discovered that one of the two foreign citizens was illegally residing in Italy. The man was asked to report to the Immigration Office of the Caserta Police Headquarters for the relevant formalities.
