'Je so' pazzo': Pino Daniele comes to life in Nicola Prosatore's film

Rome – After its premiere in the Grand Public section of the 21st Rome Film Fest, scheduled for October 13-25, 2026, "Je so' pazzo" arrives in Italian theaters from October 15, 2026, with 01 Distribution. The film, directed by Nicola Prosatore, is a tribute to the great Neapolitan artist Pino Daniele.

Prosector co-wrote the screenplay with Edoardo Puma and Carlo Salsa. Massimiliano Caiazzo plays the title role, playing the Neapolitan bluesman. The ensemble cast includes Mariasole Pollio, Giovanni Ludeno, Giuseppe Brunetti, Leonardo Bianconi, Monica Nappo, and Antonia Truppo, with Giampiero De Concilio and the participation of Massimiliano Rossi, Demi Licata, Mirko Della Vecchia, Riccardo Betteghella, Andrea Garofalo, Luca Chikovani, Yuri Pascale Langer, Ettore Mirabilia, Matteo Trapanese, and Michele Gargiulo.

The film is produced by Filippo Valsecchi and is a Tartare Film and Camfilm production with Rai Cinema. The work is produced and distributed with the support of the Ministry of Culture – Fund for the Development of Investments in Cinema and the Audiovisual Industry – and the Campania Region – Culture and Tourism Plan 2024/2025 DGRC 616 of November 14, 2024, and DGRC 217 of April 17, 2025, Racconti di Campania.

"Je so' pazzo" is an intense portrait of Pino Daniele, a rebellious soul born in the alleys of Naples, capable of revolutionizing Italian music by fusing blues, jazz, and Neapolitan tradition. The film chronicles his rise, from a difficult childhood marked by abandonment to his legendary 1981 concert in front of 200.000 people. Amidst family conflicts, personal fragility, and deep love, Pino finds in music a language to express what he cannot express.

But success brings new challenges: the unresolved relationship with his father, the weight of expectations, and the risk of repeating the same mistakes.
