The Neapolis Marathon village
Naples – The Carabinieri of the Naples mobile radio unit intervened at 12:45 a.m. today in Piazza del Plebiscito, alerted via the single emergency number 112 by a security company responsible for monitoring the stands and facilities of the Neapolis Marathon Village.
According to initial reports, shortly beforehand, some young people had entered from the back of two stands, likely cutting the tents with a pocketknife. The youths then stole some drinks and materials provided by the event's sponsors, fleeing before the patrols arrived.
Officers from the Naples Central Carabinieri also responded to the scene and acquired video surveillance footage to identify those responsible. The investigation is ongoing.
The episode occurred in the Village set up in Piazza del Plebiscito in view of the sixth edition of the Neapolis Marathon, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday 18 October, with over 8 thousand registered participants across the three distances planned.
