Maurizio de Giovanni's Passione evening sold out in Naples.

A sold-out evening event hosted by Maurizio de Giovanni at the La Porta del Parco Auditorium in Bagnoli, in support of the Viva la Strada project. Proceeds will fund a 5km run-walk on November 15th and a road safety program in Campania schools.

An evening event titled Passione – Racconti di Musica Napoletana (Passion – Tales of Neapolitan Music), written by writer and screenwriter Maurizio de Giovanni, took place at the La Porta del Parco Auditorium in Bagnoli. The event, promoted to support the Viva la Strada project of the Domenico Cirillo Foundation and Pred Ets, was completely sold out.

The evening featured a unique performance accompanied by a fundraiser to support the first non-competitive 5K run-walk, scheduled for November 15th, coinciding with National Road Traffic Victims Day, and starting from the Auditorium. A more comprehensive road safety project is also planned, which will reach several schools in Campania in 2027.

Taking to the stage were saxophonist Gabriella Grossi, guitarist Carlo Fimiani, and double bassist Umberto Lepore, alongside the vocals of Marianita Carfora; the evening featured a repertoire of Neapolitan songs narrated and tailored to the musical score.

We're truly delighted with how the evening went, lovingly presented to us by Maurizio De Giovanni, accompanied by incredible artists, who together created a repertoire of Neapolitan songs narrated and "tailored" by the voice of Marianita Carfora, transporting the audience to an extraordinary dimension of music and poetry," enthused Ernesto and Paola Cirillo, parents of Domenico, the seventeen-year-old student who was hit and killed in Naples while crossing the street.

Simone Esposito, president of the Pred Ets association, added: "I'm delighted that the fundraising effort exceeded our goal, but we're still in the early stages. This is just the first step in a true mission, because 'Viva la Strada' is a commitment we aim to make permanent."

Next steps and commitment to road safety

The proceeds will fund the first non-competitive 5K run-walk, scheduled for November 15th at the Auditorium. A road safety project will also continue, expanding to several schools in Campania in 2027.
