NAS checks in Avellino and Salerno uncovered irregularities in beauty centers and salons: two businesses were closed, fined over €22, and 300 cosmetic products seized.

NAS intervenes in the beauty industry between Avellino and Salerno: closures, fines, and cosmetics seizures.
During a series of inspections conducted by the Carabinieri of the NAS (Anti-Adulteration and Health Unit), irregularities were identified in the beauty industry between Avellino and the province of Salerno. The inspections targeted facilities without proper licensing or with poor hygiene and sanitation practices, requiring targeted interventions to ensure the safety of services offered to consumers and industry workers.
In the Avellino area, a massage parlor was closed following investigations that revealed the lack of a SCIA (Certified Body for the Protection of Personal Data) or other authorizations. The business was operating in a basement that lacked the required hygiene and sanitation standards, and the competent authority ordered its immediate closure. The estimated value of the prohibited facility is approximately €100.
In the Salerno area, an inspection of a hair salon revealed staffing irregularities: seven employees lacked the required professional qualifications. Regarding cosmetic products, missing or undocumented regulatory provisions were found, as well as a failure to register them on the European portal for placing them on the market. Nine administrative fines totaling more than €22 were imposed for these violations.
In Piana del Sele, the military seized 300 packages of cosmetic products—including lipsticks, mascara, eyeshadows, and makeup bags—sold in a store and labeled in foreign languages or lacking the mandatory warnings. A €1,000 administrative fine was also imposed in this case. The investigations also involved the support of the Local Health Authority (ASL) and the municipal police, demonstrating the synergy between these agencies in monitoring the beauty industry.
The measures aim to ensure that beauty industry businesses operate in compliance with health and hygiene, safety, and consumer information requirements, protecting public health and ensuring competitiveness among legitimate operators.
