Naples: High-impact raids in Barra and Ponticelli: gun in elevator and drugs in home

Naples. – An extraordinary "High Impact" territorial patrol, coordinated by the Carabinieri of the Poggioreale Company with the support of the Naples Mobile Radio Unit, covered the neighborhoods of Barra, Ponticelli, and San Giovanni a Teduccio until late at night. The checks focused on people subject to restrictive measures, homes, businesses, and the regularity of electricity connections.

Drugs and tampered meters

In the San Giovanni a Teduccio neighborhood, officers, along with e-distribuzione personnel, searched the home of a 59-year-old man already under house arrest. Inside, they found nine packages containing a total of 10 grams of hashish and 2,75 grams of marijuana, as well as packaging materials and a notepad with names and amounts. They also discovered tampering with the electricity meter, which would have allowed the fraudulent withdrawal of electricity. The man has been reported.

During a house search in Barra, a marijuana plant with buds approximately 1.6 meters tall was found in a bedroom. The owner was charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Concealed weapons and ammunition

Particular attention was paid to the search for weapons. On Via Calata Capodichino, the Carabinieri seized 42 9x21 caliber bullets, hidden in a medicine chest inside a shoe rack in the bedroom. Two women were charged with illegal possession of ammunition.

In the "Conolo" public housing complex on Via Claudio Miccoli, in the Poggioreale neighborhood, a purse containing a Remington pistol was recovered hidden in an elevator shaft. A box containing 38 7,65 caliber bullets was also found in the basement. The weapon and ammunition were seized and will be subjected to ballistic tests.

Illegal connections and other violations

The checks also targeted commercial businesses. Illegal connections to the electricity grid were discovered at two car washes on Via Repubbliche Marinare (Barra) and a convenience store on Via Immacolata Concezione (Ponticelli). The owners were reported for electricity theft.

Also in Barra, a man under house arrest was not found at home and was reported for escaping. A 22-year-old was stopped driving a scooter without ever having obtained a license and was reported for driving without a license, a repeat offense within two years.

During the operation, the Carabinieri identified 125 people, 39 of whom had criminal records, checked 54 vehicles (21 traffic fines and 6 vehicles seized) and documented the violations found.
