Weather: Last rains in Central and Southern Italy: Good weather returns on Tuesday

The last showers are expected in the South and Sicily, before the anticyclone moves back over Western Europe and the Mediterranean basin.

Sunday 11th: fast rain and strong winds

On Sunday, the weather will be concentrated mainly in the South and Sicily. Generally, it will feature rapid rain, alternating with dry spells, but within a context of strong winds. Winds from the north will blow with gusts exceeding 40 km/h, particularly along the Adriatic and Ionian coasts and the two major islands, with the Mistral wind being the main wind.

Monday 12th: Residual showers between Campania and Sicily

Meanwhile, an anticyclone will begin to expand from the western quadrants, ensuring progressive atmospheric stabilization starting from the central and northern regions, with more sunny spells. The last showers are still expected on Monday the 12th in Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, and Sicily.

From Tuesday 13th: the anticyclone conquers the country

Starting Tuesday, the weather pattern will change: the advance of a vast high-pressure system, supported by both Azorean and North African elements, will lead to a gradual stabilization of the weather across Italy. This structure will favor large sunny periods and a gradual but noticeable increase in temperatures.

Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th: October arrives

Between Wednesday and Thursday, highs will largely exceed 22°C in the North, then reach peaks of 25°C in the central regions and Sardinia. Cities like Florence and Rome will thus experience the classic "ottobrata," a term that in Roman tradition evoked autumnal outings through the countryside and vineyards, and which in meteorology describes a period of prolonged stability guaranteed by a solid anticyclone.

Around mid-October: mild weather and clear skies

The start of the week will therefore mark the transition from a dynamic and still unstable climate in the South to a lasting anticyclone. High pressure will ensure stable days and mostly clear skies across much of the country, ushering Italy into a decidedly mild mid-October.
