Caserta – A 21-year-old man has been charged with three robberies, one of which remained an attempted robbery. He was issued a pre-trial detention order, executed by the Caserta State Police. The events, reconstructed by investigators from the Flying Squad, apparently occurred during the summer months in the city center near the train station.
The order was issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, following investigations that allowed the dynamics of the three incidents to be reconstructed.
The first incident dates back to June. According to investigators' reconstruction, the young man, accompanied by an accomplice who is currently wanted, stole a wallet from a woman's purse.
During the robbery, the victim was reportedly punched in the face several times to prevent her from photographing the perpetrators. This assault accompanied the robbery, turning the incident into a particularly violent one.
The investigations conducted by the Flying Squad allowed them to reconstruct the circumstances of the incident and identify the 21-year-old's alleged involvement.
A second incident reportedly occurred in July, on Via Cesare Battisti. On this occasion, the 21-year-old, along with another individual, allegedly ripped a gold necklace from a woman's neck.
After taking possession of the jewel, the two apparently left on a scooter, disappearing without a trace.
This episode also formed part of the circumstantial evidence reconstructed by investigators, who worked to connect the various events that occurred in the city center area.
The third alleged incident dates back to August. According to the reconstruction contained in the Prosecutor's Office's statement, the young man allegedly attempted to steal another woman's purse, but was unsuccessful.
The attempt was reportedly stopped thanks to the intervention of a passerby, who prevented the crime from being committed.
The three incidents, which occurred over the course of a few months and were concentrated in the areas near the Caserta train station, were investigated by the Flying Squad, which reconstructed the alleged operating procedures and the young man's involvement.
Once the incidents were reconstructed, officers from the Caserta Flying Squad located the 21-year-old and executed a pre-trial detention order. The young man was taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, where he remains at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
The order was issued by the investigating judge at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, headed by Prosecutor Pierpaolo Bruni.
The precautionary measure is part of the preliminary investigation phase and does not constitute a declaration of guilt.
In the press release, the Prosecutor's Office clarifies that the proceedings are still in the preliminary investigation phase. The suspect should therefore be considered innocent until a final conviction is issued.
The same note emphasizes that the precautionary measure was adopted with adversarial proceedings limited to the preliminary investigation phase and that the trial judge will also be able to assess the absence of any form of responsibility on the part of the young man.
