Share

Naples. Last night, State Police officers from the Ponticelli Police Station arrested Pasquale Salinas, 42, and Maurizio Benincasa, 49, both Neapolitans, and reported a 47-year-old for the crime of tobacco smuggling. The officers, on duty to control the territory for the purpose of preventing crime, at around 20:9 p.m., while traveling along Via Eugenio Montale, noticed two people who were wandering around suspiciously, carrying two black bags near a cellar at block 7/669. The two men, upon seeing the officers, tried to elude a possible check, in fact one of the two escaped, while Salinas was stopped and checked, finding inside the black bags, numerous cartons of cigarettes without a mark. Together with other patrols who arrived on site to assist, the officers checked the cellar previously noted, where Benincasa was present, busy preparing the TLEs to be sold illegally in the area; in fact, the search found 14 packets of contraband cigarettes, weighing approximately XNUMX kg. The two men, already known for this crime, were arrested and taken to their homes under house arrest, at the disposal of the judicial authorities pending the summary hearing that will take place today. The third man was reported at liberty.
