The Pineta Grande clinic
The investigation concerns the expansion work at the Pineta Grande Hospital clinic in Castel Volturno.
Also under accusation is the healthcare entrepreneur, Vincenzo Schiavone, owner of the clinic and nursing homes Padre Pio of Mondragone, Villa Bianca of Naples, and Villa Ester of Avellino. And still at risk of trial are the officials of the Region, Antonio Postiglione, Antonio Podda and Arturo Romano, the president of Aiop Campania, Sergio Crispino, the former mayor of Castel Volturno, Dimitri Russo, with part of his council, and some former city councilors.
The prosecutors believe that numerous crimes, including urban planning, have taken place around the expansion of the Pineta Grande Hospital. In particular, Schiavone allegedly hired relatives of local politicians in exchange for authorization to expand the clinic and increase the number of beds.
